Welcome to the ANIMALS section!
Here you will find information about the Mediterranean animal world, from sea basses to kingfishers and from reptiles to foxes. The only sections available at this moment are the birds and reptiles section. Our special thanks to Mr. STEFAN DUMMERMUTH for supplying valuable information from his research: Reptiles and Amphibians of Phaselis Bay.
BIRDS: We have divided the bird section into three color categories. Resident Birds, Winter Visitors and Summer Visitors. These are all internationally used colors to indicate the category of birds. As our guide, we have followed our own observations as well as the classifications indicated in Turkiye ve Avrupa'nin Kuslari (published originally as: Pocket Guide to Birds of Britain and Europe with North Africa and the Middle East. Highly recommended to those who are interested in bird watching.
Sundance, because of its unmatched location —forests, Karacay River running by, acres of virgin land and splendid Mt. Tahtali behind— is an ideal place for many members of the animal world. Every year, Sundance hosts many different kinds of birds travelling from all over the world. For the protection of wild life in Sundance, acres of land have been reserved just for this purpose. From herons to wild ducks, from bee-eaters to rollers and many more. All make it ideal for bird watching all year round, with different types of birds appearing depending on the season.

At this moment, the bird categories which have been finalized are the Resident Birds and Summer Visiting Birds. Since we provide pictures, audio clips (bird chants), description and habitat information for each and every bird, preparing a big list takes a lot of time. But missing categories will be introduced as soon as they are ready to upload. We are now working on the Winter Visiting Birds, and then the rest will follow.
On the list of birds, you will find the order (in Latin) and family names (in Latin, English and Turkish) along with the Scientific, English and Turkish names of each bird. And of course descriptions and pictures! At the top of each picture, typical sounds of birds are also available (mp3). Just click the note sign!
We have used many sources in preparing the lists. Information about these sources are available at the bottom of the Resident Birds page.
What else to say? Happy surfing!
